Rated appropriately. This is a great close to home winter hike that has a bunch of nice stops to enjoy. Can’t wait to come back and see it when the waterfall is flowing. Red Town and Cave Hole Trail Loop is a 4.2 kilometer heavily trafficked loop trail located near Renton, Washington that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is fairly easy to navigate, it is wide and other than a few bends in the road is fairly straight and level. The parking area holds 25-30 cars and has additional parking is to the left of the entrance. Look for the entrance to the Red Town Trailhead on the left side of the road. -Indian Trail Without this payoff at the end is why I gave it 3 stars. Follow 166th for .7 miles to its end. Most people hike the Red Town Trail to access the Coal Creek Falls Trail where they can view the popular Coal Creek Falls. -At the end of the Red Town Trail there is a water source Still had some incline and rougher parts so I didn’t get bored, but wasn’t too crazy. You can make a right on this trail for a quick detour to see a coal seam. Look for the entrance to the Red Town Trailhead on the left side of the road. -Bagley Seam Trail Helping people explore, conserve, learn about, and enjoy the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Two portable toilets and a picnic table at trailhead there wasn't a waterfall because the stream was almost dried up. Super fun, nice long hike if you connect to other trails. Continue to follow Lakemont Blvd SE and the Red Town Trailhead parking lot will be on the left, about 3 miles away. Follow the creek to a picket fence to see the local fauna. From I-405—Take Exit 10 and follow Coal Creek Parkway SE 2.4 miles to the shopping center. Like others have said, there were a lot of people on a Saturday at 4:00, but I actually liked being around others to ward off bears and cougars! Come on a great hike touring the southern portion of Cougar Mountain to visit 4 waterfalls, 2 viewpoints, and 1 peak. Now that you know what you are looking at enter one of the two gates and explore the short loop of wild flowers. To the right you will see a sign for the meadow restoration project.
